Tessaout Valley & the wider Atlas

Amezri and Ichbaken on a dedicated mountain journey beyond the city’s immediate surroundings.

Illustrated landscape of Tessaout Valley & the wider Atlas

The region & its story

The Tessaout villages belong to a wider Atlas itinerary. Ichbaken is outside Ouarzazate Province; include it as a mountain discovery, not as a city neighbourhood. Village visits need local knowledge, realistic travel margins and respect for residents and working paths.

Getting there & getting around

Plan with a local mountain guide who can confirm weather, tracks, river crossings and the right vehicle. These villages are not a quick extension of the cinema route. Arrange meals and any overnight stay before departure.

A day in the region

Keep the day focused on a confirmed valley route and a manageable village walk. Do not combine both villages with a rushed city return unless your guide has confirmed the plan is realistic.

Food & local tables

Pre-arrange meals with a host or guide. Carry the supplies your guide recommends rather than relying on unconfirmed services along the route.

When to visit

Daylight travel with a current weather and access check. Let your guide adjust the route if water crossings or mountain conditions change.

Where to stay

Arrange a village host or mountain accommodation in advance, including bedding, meals and pickup arrangements. Ask what facilities are actually available.

Respect the places you visit

Ask before photographing people or entering homes. Stay on agreed walking routes, keep out of cultivated plots and support makers with clear, direct purchases.
